To take brew samples, visit each of the dark-colored upright vats in the room where the stein was found. Take the full halfing stein to Novice Richard at the Tursh Academy for analysis.

Starting Dialogue[]
The redcaps seem to be brewing something very strange. Whatever it is they have in the dark upright brew vats, it should probably be tested by a professional.
Perhaps, if samples were taken from each of the dark-colored upright vats in the room where the stein was found, they could then be analyzed by Novice Richard, a potion specialist at the Tursh Academy Dormitories.
This stein would make a good holder for the brew samples.

Richard says, "That concoction smells interesting. Let's have a look at it."
Richard stirs the brew, wafts it, and seems to cast a spell on it."
A small watery protrusion extends from the stein, waves around, then slips back into the brew.
Richard nods, as if expecting that to happen. "It seem sthat th eredcaps are using some alien techniques to actually bring their brew to life.. I'm sure their creations made traversing the Storehouse that much more difficult."
"Please, take these as a gift. it's not often I get to experiment on living brew, and I thank you for the opportunity."
